President Donald Trump ripped into The New York Times and former presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden in a Truth Social post on Monday, May 11.
Trump accused the media outlet of allegedly misreporting about his plans to renovate the Lincoln Memorial Pool, while also favoring Obama and Biden.
The president addressed a Monday, May 11, article of The New York Times which reported that the renovation of the landmark would cost $13.1 million.
The publication stated that this figure exceeded the $1.8 million budget initially promised by Trump.

This did not go down well with the president, who took to his Truth Social account to criticize the media outlet.
Trump described The New York Times as "one of the worst newspapers" in the world and also claimed that it has been “losing subscribers” on an hourly basis.
The president began his Truth Social post, “The Failing New York Times, which is one of the worst newspapers anywhere in the World, and is losing subscribers on an hourly basis, is now at it again."
He further accused the publication of misreporting his 2024 presidential election victory with mistakes and wrong predictions.
Trump added, “Just like they covered my Landslide 2024 Presidential Election Victory inaccurately, and without shame, constantly making major mistakes and incorrect predictions at every path along the way."

Furthermore, he slammed The New York Times for not calling out Obama and Biden’s “botched attempt” to renovate the pool.
Trump stated, “They are now trying to justify Obama and Biden's expensively botched attempt at fixing the long broken, unsightly, and unsanitary Reflecting Pool that NOW sits majestically between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial."
The president alleged that Obama and Biden fleshed out $55 million to renovate the pool but could not do it properly which led to the landmark being plagued with a leakage and a pungent smell.
Trump claimed that he could have made a far superior reflecting pool within $5 to $6 million.
The president criticized The New York Times reporter David A. Fahrenthold, calling him a “lowlife” for portraying the renovation as a paint job, when instead, according to Trump, it is a “deeply complicated work of smart and beautiful construction.”
Moreover, Trump labeled The New York Times article as “inaccurate and malicious.”
Several social media users reacted to the same. One X users stated, “If only Trump had the vaguest idea of what he is talking about or some tangential relationship with reality and the truth. And yet, here we are.”
