Kate Middleton Allegedly Took Early Stand Against Prince Andrew as Palace Pressure Intensified
Catherine, Princess of Wales was reportedly the first senior royal to separate herself from Prince Andrew as controversy surrounding the disgraced royal intensified behind palace walls. According to royal author Christopher Andersen, Kate quietly began distancing herself from Andrew Andrew out long before his royal titles were formally removed.
Speaking to Page Six, Andersen claimed the Princess of Wales refused to engage with Andrew during family gatherings and royal holidays. “She is the first royal to cut him off, to turn her back on him,” Andersen explained. The author, whose latest book is Kate! The Courage, Grace, and Power of the Woman Who Will Be Queen, also alleged Kate blocked Andrew from attending her annual Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey.

“He asked, through intermediaries, if he could slip in a side door,” Andersen said, adding that he was bluntly told, “Nope, we don’t want your face on camera.” The claims add another chapter to the royal fallout surrounding Andrew, who has faced growing isolation within the monarchy in recent years. Andersen suggested Kate’s actions were tied to concerns about protecting the monarchy’s future image.
“Kate is looking forward,” he said, noting that she doesn’t want the monarchy to be tarnished by damaging allegations. “She’s the wife of a future monarch,” he said, adding that she’s also the “mother of a future monarch,” Prince George, who is next in the line of succession after William.
Andrew, now reportedly referred to as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, has faced mounting scrutiny over his ties to late financier Jeffrey Epstein and allegations connected to Epstein’s accuser, Virginia Giuffre. The royal was stripped of his titles by King Charles III in October 2025. “Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse,” the statement concluded.

Reports also claim William and Kate supported the decision behind the scenes. Andrew has repeatedly denied allegations made against him but previously reached a financial settlement with Giuffre in a civil lawsuit without admitting wrongdoing. Giuffre later died in 2025. Reports claimed emails showed Andrew remained in contact with Epstein after publicly claiming ties had ended.
Andersen, who also wrote The King: The Life of King Charles III, claimed William and Kate privately pushed for tougher action against Andrew as concerns over the monarchy’s reputation grew. The author also alleged the Prince and Princess of Wales appeared to avoid Andrew during the Duchess of Kent’s Requiem Mass in September 2025 when he allegedly attempted to speak with them. Representatives for the royal couple reportedly did not respond to requests for comment.
