Kash Patel’s girlfriend, Alexis Wilkins, has rejected a report that claimed she was holding another man’s hand during the chaos that ensued after the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Beyond dismissing the claims, Wilkins also praised Patel for keeping her safe during the incident.

Speaking with The Daily Mail, Wilkins said, “I was only ever holding Kash’s hand; anything to suggest otherwise is false.” Wilkins also criticized The New York Times live blog entry that originally reported the claim.

New York Times White House correspondent Shawn McCreesh wrote in the publication's live blog, approximately 44 minutes after the shots were fired. The correspondent wrote that "pandemonium reigned as top cabinet officials were evacuated."

Kash Patel's behavior post the White House correspondents' dinner left the internet divided.

McCreesh, who was reporting as part of the White House press pool, added, “Robert Kennedy Jr. and his wife, Cheryl Hines, came out and were ushered into an elevator. Then Jeanine Pirro emerged. Patel, came tearing across the hallway with two men in tow; his girlfriend was hiding in a room with another man who was holding her hand.” The reporter also mentioned that he was “in a hall just outside the ballroom when the commotion first rang out.”

However, the publication updated the post for “additional context” and clarified that Wilkins was “in a nearby room with a man who appeared to be a member of a security detail and who was holding her hand.”

Kash Patel and Alexis Wilkins' relationship has also been the subject of a lot of scrutiny.

The singer accused The Times of using the shooting as a "political tool" to push a "salacious" narrative about her and Patel which is already under scrutiny because of rumors of the FBI Director using the “perks” of his job to favor his girlfriend, and the 19-year age difference between them.

Alexis Wilkins added, “It is sick for the New York Times to have used this time after a perceived active shooting as a political tool. They will stop at nothing to push a narrative out that’s damaging to people they’ve determined they dislike.”

Wilkins disputed McCreesh's account, saying she was in a holding room with Patel and Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and his wife, Kristine Blanche.

Wilkins mentioned that the room’s door was locked. Dismissing the NYT account entirely, Wilkins said, “The thing that’s really interesting about all of this is that never happened at all. I was never in a different holding room outside of the holding room that I was in with Kash. I was sitting there with the acting attorney general and his wife, Kristine, and never held anyone’s hand.”

However, the publication, on the other hand, revealed to The Daily Beast that it stood by its reporting. A New York Times spokesperson said in a statement, “A Times journalist on the scene of the Correspondents’ Dinner accurately reported during the breaking news events of the evening, including Ms. Wilkins’ sheltering in a room while holding a security officer’s hand. This reporting was published in a live blog Saturday night, and was updated for additional context to readers.”
