Kai Trump, President Donald Trump’s 19-year-old granddaughter, has obtained a restraining order against a 26-year-old man from Florida, whom she has accused of stalking her. This information comes from court documents obtained by TMZ.
The restraining order prevents Gabriel Garza Jr. from approaching Trump, her home, workplace, college campus, or any events she attends. A judge in Palm Beach County extended the order this month, keeping it in effect until May 2027.
Kai Trump is dealing with another alleged stalker who is reportedly homeless.
Trump, the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump, filed her request in Palm Beach County Court. In her filing, she described Garza as homeless and stated that he lives in a car in the Jupiter/Palm Beach County area, according to the report.
The court issued a temporary restraining order in April. This order barred Garza from stalking, cyberstalking, or taking any actions that could lead to physical harm or death. The extended order also requires him to stay at least 500 feet away from Trump’s home and workplace.
The order will apply to the University of Miami, where Trump plans to enroll in the fall. TMZ reported that Garza cannot approach the campus due to her upcoming attendance.
A hearing in the case was originally set for April 30. Trump asked the court to change the date because it conflicted with her last day of high school. She wrote, “My last day of high school. I can’t leave until 3:00 pm. Please reschedule for the following Thursday,” according to the report.
The hearing was moved to May 14, when the judge extended the protective order. Under this order, Garza must also surrender any firearms, as reported by TMZ.
This case raises additional security concerns for Trump, who has gained a large social media following and has become more visible as her grandfather's political presence grows. She spoke at the 2024 Republican National Convention, where she portrayed Trump as a grandfather and aimed to show voters a personal side of him.
Trump has also drawn attention for her golf career. She has posted about tournament appearances and family outings on social media and plans to continue playing golf while attending college.
The restraining order comes as the Trump family maintains federal protection and public interest due to Donald Trump’s return to the White House. Kai Trump has occasionally discussed the challenges that come with her public profile, including Secret Service protection.
Kai was spotted shopping with her mother.
The report states that the court order also prevents Garza from attending events where Trump is present. The article did not mention any criminal charges against Garza related to the petition.
A restraining order is a civil court action that can limit contact and distance while a judge reviews the claims made by the petitioner. In this case, the judge granted the extension after Trump sought continued protection.
Garza’s response to the petition was not included in TMZ’s report, but court records referenced in the article identified him as the respondent in the case.
The order is set to last until May 2027 unless the court changes or extends it.
