After sparking controversy following her absence from the interview with Carrie Underwood on The View, the show's co-host Joy Behar is now facing fresh backlash. This time, it's her comments about President Donald Trump that have sparked outrage.

During a recent episode of The View, Behar made a controversial joke that didn’t sit well with the White House. After a video showed Trump claiming that he received an undisclosed expensive present from Iran, Behar questioned a guest about the president's military actions.

The question, which was about what the military has accomplished in Trump’s war, alongside a herpes dig caught the attention of the White House.

A video posted on X shows Joy Behar and other 'The View' co-hosts commenting on Donald Trump and the Iran war.

In 2025, after Underwood performed at Trump's second inauguration as the president, Behar had questioned and criticized the singer. According to speculations, this allegedly led Behar to refrain from interviewing Underwood when she appeared on The View on Tuesday, March 24.

Meanwhile, although that controversy was debunked with sources claiming that her temporary absence was just a "production decision," Behar once again sparked controversy following her sharp joke about Trump during Wednesday's episode of The View.

While discussing a video of Trump claiming he had received an expensive gift from Iran, Behar took a dig that quickly grabbed the attention of viewers. She questioned guest panelist Abby Huntsman about the accomplishments of the military in Trump's war in the Middle Eastern country.

“And what’s the gift besides herpes?” Behar joked. To which Huntsman replied, “We don’t know what the intelligence [Trump] got was ― that’s the problem.” Following the comment, Behar continued with further jabs, stating, “The word ‘intelligence’ and him in the same sentence should not go together.”

Behar's comment stirred reactions, with critics calling them inappropriate, while the White House clapped back at The View co-host.

White House Spokesperson Reacts To Behar's Comments

Following the interview with Huntsman, the White House strongly reacted to the comments made by Behar on the show. In a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle criticized Behar for her harsh words and unnecessary jabs at the president.

Calling her “Joyless Behar,” Ingle said The View co-host is “an extremely unlikeable, talentless hack with a poorly rated TV show who clearly suffers from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.” He further asserted the war “is a resounding success”.

Ingle concluded saying, “President Trump is working tirelessly every single day to ensure the American military continues to be the greatest, most powerful fighting force in the world that will crush our enemies and defend our great nation.”

However, this isn't the first time the White House has hit back at Behar. Previously, when she said Trump was jealous of Barack Obama, officials criticized her. They called her “an irrelevant loser” and even warned that The View could be taken off the air.
