John Paulson and his former wife, Jenny Paulson, have finally reached a settlement in their $4.7 billion divorce case after years of conflict and a legal battle. While the settlement is reportedly sealed, the court documents revealed that the settlement was reached on Monday, May 4, 2026.
This week, John and Jenny’s attorneys, Robert S. Cohen and Marilyn Chinitz, released a joint statement on the matter, as reported by Page Six. The statement read, “Jenny Paulson and John Paulson have come to the decision to amicably settle their divorce and trust-related litigations. They consider this settlement a private matter, and neither party nor any family nor friends of the parties will have any further comment.”
This comes after a five-year legal battle. And now the billionaire hedge fund manager and his former wife, Jenny, have finalized their divorce, resolving a dispute over a $4.7 billion marital estate.

This also marks the end of a legal battle of several years between the two, which witnessed a period of bitterness, mudslinging, and accusations. The controversial divorce settlement drew reactions on social media.
One of the social media users wrote for Jenny Paulson, “Her plan paid off.” An X user took a dig at John Paulson’s alleged ties to the convicted offender Jeffrey Epstein and also targeted Donald Trump in the process.
The comment read, “Next: John Paulson investigated for his connections to Epstein. Just kidding, the POTUS supports these Epstein class.” Another user on X wrote, “So many women are becoming billionaires now with their ex-husband’s money.”
Jenny Paulson’s Accusations Explained
Jenny Paulson accused John Paulson of allegedly hiding his wealth from her.
Court documents also revealed that, in 2022, Jenny accused her ex-husband of allegedly setting up a “secretive web of trusts” to conceal his wealth and assets from her.
However, John’s legal team dismissed these accusations and instead stated in the court documents that the trusts were set up together by the former couple for the security of their two daughters, Giselle and Danielle.
According to earlier reports in 2024, John had offered Jenny hundreds of millions in cash in their divorce after they had separated in September 2021, after 21 years of marriage.
Jenny Paulson rejected the offer and called her ex-husband's proposal “humiliating and demeaning.” According to reports, Jenny wrote in an email, “In my heart and my spirit, I feel I deserve a 50/50 split. Or, “60/40 is OK because there have been other similar divorce arrangements.”
Furthermore, she described her former husband’s actions as “shameful, humiliating, and disrespectful.” The divorce settlement took an ugly turn when John’s legal team counter-argued that this arrangement would make Jenny “one of the richest women in America.”
The animosity extended to their attorneys as well. Jenny Paulson’s attorney, Robert S. Cohen, took a dig at his client’s ex and said, “The man is worth billions of dollars… and Mr. Paulson offered Mrs. Paulson only a monthly allowance.” He also called the move extremely hypocritical.
However, John Paulson’s attorney Marilyn Chinitz hit back at Cohen and said, “In what universe is hundreds of millions in upfront cash, plus annual eight-figure distributions for the rest of her life – all tax free – considered an allowance?”
But it seems that the former couple has reached a mutual settlement, putting an end to years of legal battle. John has also moved on with Alina de Almeida, with whom he announced his engagement in 2024, and the couple also welcomed a daughter last year.
