Watch Jelly Roll Name an Adorable Baby Quokka While in Australia
Jelly Roll has had a great many honors throughout his country music career, but naming a baby quokka while in Australia may well be one of the greatest yet.
Jelly himself summarized the moment best: "I am fixin' to faint. This might be the greatest day of my whole life," he said in a video that showed him holding the sweet quokka joey.
In the video, a super excited Jelly gets to meet a koala, spot a wombat, hold a full-grown quokka, then hold and feed the tiny quokka, which was wrapped cozily in a blanket.
The singer was then informed that he would get to name the little animal, but he said, "You can't name something without spending time with it," so he made sure to play with it, pet it and feed it before coming to a decision.

Still, Jelly felt like he needed support to name the baby animal, so he FaceTimed his wife, Bunnie Xo, so she could help him come up with the right name. When he told her he was with a baby quokka, she said, "Gosh, it's your dream!"
Bunnie told her husband, "You gotta name her something country." Jelly obviously thought this was a great idea and asked his wife what she thought the name should be. She suggested Loretta, which felt right to the "Save Me" singer.

Jelly Roll got to bottle feed a baby quokka named Loretta.
He ended up calling the baby quokka Loretta Lynn after the classic country musician, and he even played a few bars of a Loretta Lynn song for her namesake to hear.
But naming the animal wasn't enough for Jelly. He was so taken with the furry Loretta that he quipped, "This could be a new thing, dude! We could start rescuing quokkas! We'll start sponsoring them. What do they cost? I'll buy Loretta right now."
Jelly Roll and his wife, Bunnie Xo, adopted three mini cows earlier this year.
The singer is famously an animal lover. He and his wife actually adopted three mini cows earlier this year, adorably named Crunch, Brownie, and S'more. Plus, they also have a dog — an English bulldog named Chachi — and a mini donkey named Griz.
Jelly Roll is on tour in New Zealand and Australia, where he met a baby quokka.
Jelly Roll isn't just "down under" for the cute animals. He's actually there for his Australia and New Zealand tour, supported by fellow country stars Shaboozey and Drew Baldridge.
The tour, which runs from October 25 through to November 8, features stops on the Sunshine Coast, plus in Adelaide, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth, Sydney and Auckland.
