During the 2024 Presidential election, Vance was spotted sporting a haircut that reportedly received quite a lot of criticism. The style was characterized by longer hair on top and shorter hair on the sides.
The haircut appeared to be even more jarring every time the Vice President turned around. In an August 2024 interview with Esquire, hairstylist Kevin Baker weighed in on Vance's haircut and said, “It looks like someone just plopped a toupee on top of his head.”

However, the trolling and the comparison to fictional characters reportedly continued for the former lawyer. In April 2026, Vance was already facing scrutiny when he boarded a flight to Pakistan, as several social media users doubted his capability to provide a solution to the ongoing war.

What a great idea.” Further mocking his hairdo and his role in the peace mission, a social media user commented, “He will never be presidential material.”
