For much of the past few months, Vance was was the subject of rumors alleging an extramarital affair with Charlie Kirk's widow and Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk.

As rumors circulated online, the couple shared the news with the world. What made headlines soon after was the fact that the second lady was initially hesitant about expanding their family. The Vice President admitted having to convince his wife for having another child.
"I remember when we decided to run for vice president, I said, 'Honey, I really want to have a fourth kid,’” he was heard saying at a political event, according to a report by Fox News.
"She said, 'Well, you can become vice president, or you can have a fourth baby,’” he added. He later said he was ‘persuasive’ because he ended up getting both.
Usha Vance ditching her wedding ring
Amid the height of the rumors, the second lady was seen without her wedding ring in public. The move drew a lot of attention and made people believe that the couple was actually heading towards divorce.
Usha appeared at multiple events without her ring, which added to the speculation. One of the instances was when she and First Lady Melania Trump went to North Carolina in November 2025.
During the appearance, both women met with members of the military and their family members. She was also seen without her ring during a Red Cross holiday care package event in December 2025.
Soon after, a representative for the second lady told People the reason behind her not wearing her ring. The staffer explained that Usha was "a mother of three young children, who does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes."

He even admitted that he hopes she is “moved by the same thing that I was moved [by in] church?” “Yeah, I honestly do wish that, because I believe in the Christian gospel, and I hope eventually my wife comes to see it the same way,” he added. The statement was criticized even more, especially since the second lady has previously been vocal about not wanting to convert. "We had to have a lot of real conversations about how you do that, when I'm not Catholic, and I'm not intending to convert or anything like that,” Usha had revealed when she had appeared on the Citizen McCain with Meghan McCain show in 2019.
