Javier Bardem Brands Donald Trump a Symbol of 'Male Toxic Behavior' in Explosive Cannes Tirade
Apart from stealing the show at Cannes' red carpet with his charm, Javier Bardem also set the internet on fire with his bold comments about President Donald Trump.
While promoting his latest film The Beloved, the actor discussed his views on the ongoing Iran war.
Delivering a profane critique of Trump and comparing him to figures like Russian President Vladimir Putin, Bardem claimed that the president's mindset is killing innocents.
The Oscar-winner didn't seem to mince his words as he spoke his mind.
Javier Bardem Compares Donald Trump to Vladimir Putin
Javier Bardem criticizes Donald Trump.
Speaking at Cannes after previously sharing his political opinions and support for Palestine, Bardem used a graphic metaphor to describe Trump’s behavior.
According to Fox News, the actor accused the president of pushing "f---ing male toxic behavior.”
Discussing the dangers of the same, Bardem accused Trump of demonstrating his masculinity by attempting to "bomb the s---" out of other countries.
He further went on to compare Trump with other world leaders like Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“And that problem also goes to Mr. Trump and Mr. Putin and Mr. Netanyahu, those big-ba—s men saying, ‘My c--- is bigger than yours, and I’m going to bomb the s--- out of you.’ It’s a f---ing male toxic behavior that is creating thousands of dead people, so yeah, we have to talk about it,” Bardem said.
The actor then proceeded to speak about the importance of celebrities calling out such behavior and atrocities, despite the fear of being blacklisted.
Bardem’s comments on Trump and his Iran war come after the actor's previous comments about Israel's "genocide.”
'We Are Killing Women Because Some Men Think They Own Them'
Meanwhile, global war and politics aren't the only things that Bardem touched upon when he discussed the effects of Trump's "toxic masculinity."
The actor went on to connect the issue to broader concerns about violence against women.
Pointing fingers at his home country of Spain and reflecting on the statistics which show how violence against women has become normalized, the Oscar winner claimed to be heartbroken by humanity’s negative side.
“I’m 57 years old, coming from a very machista country called Spain, where there is an average of two women killed monthly by their ex-husbands or ex-boyfriends, which is horrible. Just that amount of women being murdered, it’s unbelievable,” Bardem said.
He continued, “And we kind of normalized it. It’s like, ‘Well, yeah, it’s horrible.’ I mean, are we f–king nuts? We are killing women because some men think they own them, they possess them.”
