Trump’s Diet Coke Claim Draws Attention as He Links It to Fighting Cancer Cells
‘It Kills Cancer’: Donald Trump’s Diet Coke Claim Stuns Mehmet Oz, Draws Laughs From Donald Trump Jr.
Donald Trump’s love for Diet Coke is well known, with reports that he has a red button in the Oval Office to order one on demand. During an appearance on Donald Trump Jr.’s Triggered podcast on Rumble on Tuesday, April 13, Dr. Mehmet Oz said Trump has suggested that soda could “kill cancer cells.”
During the discussion, Oz discussed Trump's fast-food meals in the Oval Office.
“He’ll first start off with candy bars — that little candy jar, he’ll call it. He’ll hit the red button. And then comes the diet soda pop, which your dad argues that diet soda is good for him because it kills grass [if] it’s poured on grass, so therefore it must kill cancer cells inside the body. I’m not even going to argue this right now.”

In response to this, Trump Jr. responded with laughter at his father’s claim, sthough he did not directly endorse it. Nonetheless, he remarked that his father seemed to be “onto something,” further noting, “because I will say this: I know a lot of guys pushing 80, not a lot that have his kind of energy, recall, stamina ... maybe there’s something there.”
Trump Jr. also said his father has never tried alcohol or drugs, and often jokes that his habit of ordering a Diet Coke and keeping a bowl of candy is his version of a vice. Apparently, it is not just Diet Coke that Trump thinks has cancer-killing properties.

In addition, Dr. Oz further remembered a moment on Air Force One when Trump was drinking a Fanta. He explained, “[Trump] starts to sheepishly grin, and he says, ‘This stuff is good for me, it kills cancer cells. It’s fresh-squeezed, so how bad could it be for you?’”
According to People, the Coca-Cola Company, which also owns Fanta, marked Trump’s second term with a custom 8-ounce Diet Coke bottle, presented by chairman and CEO James Quincey.

Trump has defended his love of sugary beverages and fast food as part of his efforts to stay healthy. Dr. Oz said he believes Trump chooses big, well-known chains because he trusts their consistency and standards, seeing it as a way to avoid getting sick. At one point, Dr. Oz acknowledged, “I do want to pay some credit to him, I’ve had a lot of meals where he’s not eating..I mean, the food at Mar-a-Lago is top-tier food.”
Trump Jr. stated that even if his father doesn’t strictly follow a perfect diet himself, he still wants others to be informed about it.

Meanwhile, in January of this year, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. insisted on prioritizing whole foods to “Make America Healthy Again.” The People report quoted him saying, “American households must prioritize whole, nutrient-dense foods — protein, dairy, vegetables, fruits, healthy fats, and whole grains — and dramatically reduce highly processed food,” RFK Jr. said.
