President Donald Trump has taken a jibe at former President Barack Obama in a social media post about negotiations to end the conflict with Iran.

He hushed up ongoing rumors of an alleged deal already being signed by the leaders of the countries. Though Trump did not share the exact terms of the proposed framework, he clarified that the negotiations are not over yet.

Amidst this, the president took a moment to mock Obama, claiming that his deal would be the opposite of what the latter had offered to Tehran.

Donald Trump's comments on a potential Iran deal.

On Sunday, May 24, Trump made a Truth Social post about the current situation involving Iran.

The president said that if he were to crack a deal with Iran, he would ensure it would be a “good and proper one, not like the one made by Obama.”

Trump slammed the earlier agreement for leaving the Middle Eastern country with massive amounts of cash and providing a path to nuclear development.

He stated, “Our deal is the exact opposite, but nobody has seen it, or knows what it is. It isn’t even fully negotiated yet.”

"Unlike those before me who should have solved this problem many years ago, I don’t make bad deals!” Trump added.

The president was referring to Obama’s 2015 deal with Tehran, called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPA).

In this deal, China, France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States and Iran reached an agreement to ensure Tehran’s nuclear program would remain “exclusively peaceful,” according to the U.S. Department of State.

While critics of the 2015 deal argued its sunset provisions did not permanently eliminate Iran's nuclear capabilities, international inspectors consistently verified Tehran's compliance prior to the U.S. withdrawal.

According to reports from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the White House at the time, Iran successfully shipped 25,000 pounds of enriched uranium out of the country, dismantled two-thirds of its operational centrifuges, discarded the calandria from its heavy reactor and filled it with concrete, and provided access to its nuclear facilities and supply chain.

'Obama Derangement Syndrome!'

While Trump assured that his exclusive deal with Iran would be better than Obama’s, Internet users seemed skeptical.

One user wrote, “Oh. He means giving him and his family cash.” Another user stated, “OBSESSED WITH OBAMA....Trump has Obama Derangement Syndrome!!!”

An individual noted, “And if he can't make a deal, it'll also be Obama's fault.”

“Typical geopolitical trade negotiation stance,” one user stated.

Another user opined, “The deal exists in the same place as the Iranian white flags and surrender documents.”

An individual claimed, “Wonder if Trump actually knows what the deal is. Just winging it is my guess.”
