'Hysterical' Elon Musk Steals Attention at Beijing Dinner as Internet Praises His ‘Free-Spirited’ Demeanor
Nearly a year after his dramatic White House exit, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk joined President Donald Trump in Beijing for a major meeting with Chinese officials.
As the visit focused on trade ties between the United States and China, Musk played the role of an ambassador for American businesses.
However, amid his crucial visit, social media seemed distracted by Musk’s curious facial expressions during a formal dinner.
As videos and photos from the event went viral, the Tesla CEO appeared to be making animated reactions.
Netizens React to Elon Musk’s Viral Video
Elon Musk’s facial expressions during a formal dinner in China go viral on social media.
During a high-stakes dinner in Beijing attended by top American business leaders and Chinese officials, Musk unexpectedly became the internet’s favorite talking point.
While most guests appeared serious and focused, Musk’s animated facial expressions quickly grabbed attention online.
Social media users were amused by how relaxed and playful Musk looked during the formal event.
“This man is absolutely a free-spirited being, always in a very happy mood,” one user wrote.
Another added, “Looks like he’s having a good time though.” Many users compared Musk to Apple CEO Tim Cook, who is also a part of the U.S. delegation in China.
One user joked, "He also can't believe it that it's him seating at the 'dinner table' in China."
An individual stated, "Tim Cook standing there like the responsible CEO. While Elon already looks like he’s explaining how Beijing traffic can be solved with underground hyperloops, robot taxis, and memes."
"That’s a classic Elon moment, chatting away and owning the room like it’s his living room," added another.
An individual claimed, "Elon is hysterical.”
Overall, people appreciated how Musk looked like a kid enjoying the moment in a room full of important delegates from the two nations discussing serious world issues.
Tesla's Growing Success in China
Meanwhile, despite his playful, child-like facial expressions while clicking pictures with Cook, Musk remains one of the most influential American business figures currently present in China.
This comes after his appearance at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People, where Musk told reporters he hoped to achieve “many good things” during the visit.
Although China and America have had their conflicts in the past, Musk has remained an important figure in China.
This mainly comes from Tesla’s major success in the country.
In 2018, Tesla became the first foreign automaker allowed to open a fully owned factory in China without a local joint-venture partner.
Since then, China has become one of Tesla’s biggest markets, with around 626,000 vehicles sold there last year, according to a report by Reuters.
In addition, the country also contributes nearly one-fifth of Tesla’s global revenue. However, the tech billionaire’s popularity in China has not come without setbacks.
Tesla has faced challenges from Chinese companies like BYD, Geely and Chery.
In addition, Chinese military experts have raised concerns about SpaceX and its Starlink satellite system, particularly because of its role during the Russia-Ukraine war.
Further, Tesla also faced backlash in 2021 over alleged brake problems.
However, despite these controversies, Musk continues to maintain strong public attention and influence in China.
