‘Hypocrisy is Astounding’: Erika Kirk Slams Democrats in Fierce Trans Athletes in Sports Debate
Erika Kirk sparked public discussion on social media after issuing a statement criticizing Democratic policies regarding the inclusion of transgender athletes in women's sports.
The Turning Point USA (TPUSA) CEO has triggered online chatter through her fierce defense of "women’s spaces" in a post on X.
Kirk's comments came in response to a viral post by anti-trans activist and TPUSA contributor Riley Gaines.
Gaines, in a post on X, highlighted an incident from the California championship track meet where a transgender athlete shared the top podium spot with a female athlete.
What Is the Controversy About?
Kirk's response came to light after a trans athlete, AB Hernandez, was tied for first place in three events with female competitors, even though the athlete won each event by significant margins.
Hernandez secured first place in long jump, high jump, and triple jump at the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section finals in Division 3, according to Fox News.
In May 2025, the CIF launched a pilot program for state finals that granted any female athlete finishing after a trans athlete one higher placement, leading to girls sharing podium positions with Hernandez for the title.

This incident caught the attention of Gaines, who wrote on X, "If you have to create a shared podium for the boy competing in the girls’ event, you’ve already admitted you know he isn’t a girl and that his participation is unfair. At that point, you're just seeking a public humiliation ritual for the girls."
What Did Erika Kirk Post on Her X Account?
Reacting strongly to the controversy, Kirk criticized Democrats and their progressive policies.
She wrote, “Democrats claim to champion women’s rights, yet they allow men to infiltrate women’s spaces under the guise of identity politics. Then they gaslight anyone who questions it and smear women as “transphobic” for defending basic reality. The hypocrisy is astounding."

She added, "G-d created men and women intentionally and in His image, each with a unique design and purpose. A society that can no longer recognize or honor that truth is not just losing fairness in sports, it is losing its understanding of G-d’s creation and, with it, its humanity.”
This is not the first time Kirk’s outspoken views have put her at the center of a social media storm.
Her "gender-specific" speech to students at Hillsdale College, Michigan, raised eyebrows. Addressing the class of 2026, she said, "To the men, you are called to provide. You are called to lead, to anchor your families in strength and consistency."
Similarly, for women, she said, "To the women, you are called to nurture, to build, to shape lives with wisdom and endurance. These are not secondary callings. They are among the most significant ways a life can be rightly ordered."
Internet Users React to Erika Kirk's X Post
While a few users praised Kirk's approach, many called her out for transphobic comments. Reacting to the controversy, one user wrote, "Puke on you both. Stupid issue."
Another stated, "Any time someone starts the sentence off with "Democrats" or 'Republicans", I instantly stop reading."
Praising her, one user commented, "I live in Minnesota and Attorney General Keith Ellison and Governor Tim Walz is still fighting to keep men who identified as women in our daughter’s locker room, bathrooms and allowing them to compete against them in sports."
"Was there spots for a boy for 2nd and 3rd, or only first because they know he's going to win?" asked another.
