‘He’s Rotting’: Trump Faces Online Scrutiny as Karoline Leavitt’s Mental Health Post Backfires
Over the past few months, speculations regarding President Donald Trump's mental health have been rife. From dementia concerns to discussions on cognitive decline, public scrutiny on the issue has remained a constant.
Now, a White House social media post by Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt sharing an executive order on mental illness treatment has drawn fresh social media attention, with users shifting focus to Trump's mental health rather than the policy itself.
Netizens React to Karoline Leavitt’s X Post
On Monday, April 20, Leavitt posted on X a document titled "Fact Sheet: President Donald J. Trump is Accelerating Medical Treatments for Serious Mental Illness."
The report stated that the federal government is accelerating access to treatment for patients with serious mental illnesses.

Such a step was reportedly taken in order to “provide hope to Americans with devastating, complex, and treatment-resistant conditions.”
The order directs the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to collaborate with the Department of Veterans Affairs and the private sector to expand clinical trial participation and generate reports on "experimental psychedelic therapies."
It is intended to accelerate treatment access for Americans with serious mental illness, with a particular focus on military veterans.
Netizens, however, responded by directing the policy's subject matter at Trump himself.
One user wrote, “Well, he should have undergone those treatments before he ran for office. Now he's rotting from the inside out, putting our kids in harms way.”
Another stated, “His serious mental issues should have him resign. Sadly, this cabinet and the Republican party are cool watching. We knew they were [expletive], but my g*d.”
An individual commented, “I’m betting that the [expletive] wording on this release is going to be the final straw that gets Leavitt fired lmao.”
One user wrote, “Please tell me he’s at the top of the patient list?” Another added, “Good news for Trump then who has an accelerated mental health condition, i.e. NO BRAIN!”
'Classic Symptom of Dementia'
Questions about Trump's mental health have been raised by several public figures in recent months.
Former White House attorney Ty Cobb, who served during Trump's first term, recently said on The Beat that the president's mental state has declined compared to his first term.
Cobb cited Trump's late-night Truth Social posts and irregular sleep patterns as consistent with sleep-wake reversal, a symptom associated with Alzheimer's disease. "That's a classic symptom of dementia," Cobb said.
Clinical psychologist Dr. John Gartner, a former professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, also raised concerns about Trump's mental health in an appearance on The Daily Beast podcast, citing Trump's April 5 Truth Social post warning Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump had written, "Open the [expletive] Strait, you crazy [expletive], or you'll be living in H***."
Gartner described the post as consistent with "malignant narcissism," which he said Trump has displayed throughout his life.
He also identified signs of frontotemporal dementia, which he said Trump has exhibited since 2019.
Gartner said Trump has shown decline in four areas: thinking, verbal language, physical condition and behavior. "Those are the four main areas we look for in dementia," he said.
Another symptom he showcased was that of frontotemporal dementia, which he has been showing since 2019.
