Donald Trump is under scrutiny over his recent behavior with female reporters.
'He’s About to Be 80': Political Analyst Weighs in on Trump 'Lashing out' at Female Reporters
After President Donald Trump recently lashed out at a woman journalist, political analyst Molly Jong-Fast explained what she thinks is the reason behind Trump losing his cool on female reporters lately, which has drawn much criticism.
The Sunday, May 10, broadcast of Alex Witt Reports on MS Now witnessed host Alex Witt kickstarting the segment by showing a compilation of Trump's comments directed at female reporters.
'Misogynistic and Dismissive'
MS Now's compilation video of Donald Trump lashing out at female reporters.
The compilations consisted of videos that showed the president slamming female reporters and using phrases like “Quiet, piggy” and “Are you stupid? Are you a stupid person?”
Speaking about the same during a discussion with Witt, Jong-Fast claimed that there has been a shift in Trump’s personality as of late.
The political analyst opined that the president has been lashing out at female reporters in a more "unplanned" manner now.
Jong-Fast said, “You’ll remember when he was debating Hillary Clinton or Vice President Kamala Harris, we would see him sort of say misogynistic things or be misogynistic and dismissive. But what is new here, which I think is relevant and important, is that he really does lash out at these reporters in a way that seems unplanned, right?”
Molly Jong-Fast Dissects Donald Trump's Recent Behavior
Donald Trump's "Quiet, piggy!" remark directed at a female reporter.
The political analyst stated, “Like we’ve seen him sort of do things where it is not tasteful to us. We don’t like it. It doesn’t feel good, but it doesn’t seem quite as emotional.”
Furthermore, Jong-Fast said that Trump's age might be a factor in his current communication style.
“I think this is meaningful because, you know, he’s 79, he’s about to be 80,” she said.
Notably, Trump will be turning 80 on June 14, 2026.
Jong-Fast stated, “And as you get older, sometimes you see people who start to slow down are less able to control their... sort of their behavior and speech. And it does strike me that the fact that he can’t prevent himself from getting angry at these women reporters and lashing out is new.”
The discussion followed a Friday, May 8, incident at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., involving Trump and ABC News correspondent Rachel Scott.
During the event, Trump discussed his plans to renovate the landmark.
However, Scott decided to question the president on the increasing oil and gas prices amid the ongoing Iran conflict.
In response, Trump called her question “stupid” and also referred to the female journalist as a “horror show.”
“Such a stupid question that you asked. This is one of the worst reporters. She's with ABC fake news, and she's a horror show,” Trump stated.
He further described the question as a “disgrace” to the nation.
Trump defended his focus on the landmark's transformation, noting that his administration removed "11 or 12 truckloads of filth" from the water in front of the monument.
“That's what made our country great. Beauty made our country. People made our country great,” he said.
