'He Needs to Tone It Down': Jimmy Kimmel’s Friends Fear Obsessive Trump Roasts Will Get His Show Axed
According to some insiders, Jimmy Kimmel’s jokes, comedy sketches and skits on President Donald Trump might be getting a bit monotonous.
The comedian-host has repeatedly taken digs at Trump during his late-night show.
However, sources close to the development have told RadarOnline that Kimmel’s jokes on the president have become so one dimensional that it might now risk the comedian becoming a snoozefest among his audience -- or worse, losing his job.
'Hatred Toward the President Consumes Jimmy Almost 24/7'
Jimmy Kimmel revealed that he would love to call Donald Trump on his show.
An insider said, “This hatred toward the president consumes Jimmy almost 24/7. He doesn't seem to care about anything else these days.”
The insider added that the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host often keeps track of all the activities of the president online to determine the next monologue of his political roast on him.
“If he's not brainstorming new insults for the administration with his team, Jimmy is glued to Donald Trump's movements online, plugging his name into Google and social media and trying to figure out the best line of attack in his next monologue,” the source stated.
Reportedly, even Kimmel’s friends and inner circle feel that he should now move on from his jokes on Trump or else he might become a bore or might have his show axed.
The insider further said, “There's a growing feeling among his friends in the industry that he needs to tone it down and find some other targets because he's not only boring fans, he's also getting himself in trouble in the process."
Kimmel’s late-night show is already viewed by some as dangling by a thread, thanks to his numerous jibes at Trump, his family, and other pivotal members of the administration.
Both the president and First Lady Melania Trump have reportedly called for Kimmel’s show to be canceled after he cracked a controversial joke regarding Melania days prior to the shooting incident at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner on April 25.
Jimmy Kimmel Is in No Mood to Stop
Jimmy Kimmel's comedy sketch mocking Donald Trump's cabinet meeting.
However, it seems that despite all these lingering risks, Kimmel is in no mood to stop taking jibes at Trump.
The host recently aired a clip from Trump’s speech during King Charles III’ visit at the White House where the president spoke about his parents being married for 63 long years.
The president addressed his wife and said, “That's a record we won't be able to match."
Mocking the moment, the comedian said on his show, “Wait a minute, didn't he just make a joke about his death?"
Kimmel’s show was temporarily suspended by ABC in late 2025 following a controversial joke regarding right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk's assassination.
“Jimmy has so many other things he could and should be doing - not fixating on politics and trying to even scores,” the insider added.
