A new poll suggests Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Australia tour failed to improve public opinion of the couple. The four-day visit was a combination of charitable engagements along with alleged paid appearances.

Despite the outing being privately funded, the couple were also accused of allegedly indulging in personal branding during the trip.

The couple visited the Australian War Memorial, Royal Children’s Hospital, met with the survivors of the Bondi Beach terror attack with the Duchess also making an appearance on MasterChef Australia.

However, the couple’s photo-ops at all of these appearances and Meghan's outfit choices and her decision to sell the looks she wore during public engagements drew criticism.

Meghan Markle slammed for promoting OneOff outfits.

A new poll found that the trip which concluded on April 17, 2026, failed to shift the public view of Harry and Meghan. According to RadarOnline, Roy Morgan polling data drawn from 1,767 Australian respondents aged 18 and above found 81% of those polled said the visit did not improve their opinion of the Sussexes. The remaining 19 percent indicated the visit had improved their opinion of Harry and Meghan.

An insider close to the polling results stated, “There was no shortage of attention on this trip – the tour was widely covered and clearly reached a large audience – but that exposure did not translate into greater support. If anything, it reinforced existing views rather than changing them, and this polling shows it."

The couple's fractured ties with the Royal Family resurfaced as a topic of discussion during the visit. Though the couple referenced their 2020 decision to step back from royal duties, with Meghan describing herself as the "most trolled person in the world",” 69% of the people said that they do not believe that the duo were mistreated by the Royal Family.

People Miffed with Harry and Meghan’s “On And Off” Affiliation with The Royal FamilyFurthermore, 87% of the people said that they feel the Australian trip would do nothing to mend the relationship of Harry with his father, King Charles and elder brother, Prince William. The insider alleged that the underwhelming response to the poll might also come from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s “on and off” affiliation to the Royal Family. The insider said, “There is a sense that people remain unconvinced by the 'half-in, half-out' of the royal family approach. It can appear inconsistent – part royal tour, part commercial venture – and that ambiguity makes it harder for audiences to connect with what Harry and Meghan are trying to do."

Meghan Markle allegedly gave a death stare to a woman during the Australia tour for touching Harry's back.

Furthermore, 87 percent of respondents said the Australian trip would do nothing to repair Harry's relationship with his father, King Charles, and older brother, Prince William.

The trip's commercial elements drew significant criticism on social media and may have further damaged public opinion.

Some of these included the former Suits star sporting pricey outfits during her public engagements and putting up the outfits that she wore during the trip for sale including looks worn during her visit with Bondi Beach attack survivors, which generated significant backlash and were later reportedly pulled from the platform.
