Donald Trump has some ambitious proposals in store to mark America's 250th anniversary.
From Custom Dollar Bills to Mass Pardons: Trump's Bold Plans for America's 250th Anniversary
President Donald Trump is developing a series of unique proposals to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States on July 4, 2026.
These include a professional combat sports event, a new currency denomination and mass presidential pardons.
With Trump’s 80th birthday falling on June 14, 2026, which is less than a month prior to the country's 250th anniversary celebrations, the aforementioned initiatives have prompted discussion regarding the intersection of personal branding and national events.
While the administration describes the plans as a unified tribute to both the president and the nation, critics on social media have questioned the legislative feasibility and the optics of the proposals.
Proposed UFC Event on the South Lawn
Trump is reportedly considering hosting a Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event at the White House to mark both his birthday and the United States' 250th anniversary celebrations.
According to a report by Atlanta Black Star, the plan involves constructing a temporary 100,000-seat stadium on the South Lawn.
The event would serve as a centerpiece for the month-long celebrations beginning in June.
The Donald J. Trump $250 Bill Act
Donald Trump's $250 Bill Act sparks controversy.
Apart from this, the president is seeking to implement the Donald J. Trump $250 Bill Act, a proposal introduced by Republican lawmakers to commemorate the nation's 250th anniversary.
The proposal, which Trump promoted by sharing an op-ed by Representative Andy Barr on Truth Social, seeks to feature the president's portrait on a new $250 denomination.
Trump co-signed the proposal by sharing an image of his face on the $100 bill on social media, as a $250 bill does not exist
The likelihood of his desire to insert his face on the nation’s currency despite the 160-year-old legislation banning the possibility of living people having their faces on U.S. notes garnered considerable negative reactions from social media users.
Trump also shared a digital rendering of the currency that replaces the traditional "In G-d We Trust" motto with "G-d Bless Trump."
The idea, despite only being in the planning stage, received heavy backlash from social media users.
One X users wrote, “He’s clearly in some sort of fantasy bubble while he is sundowning.”
Another user stated, “He is experiencing a narcissistic collapse. He is mentally unfit to lead and has the mentality of a pre-teen.”
An individual commented, “Oh my g-d, impeach him,” while another called him “covetous and sickening.”
Will Donald Trump Issue 250 Presidential Pardons?
Trump might also be planning to issue 250 presidential pardons to mark America’s 250th anniversary.
According to a Wall Street Journal report, he might announce the same on his 80th birthday.
The president has already faced significant backlash for issuing several pardons during his second term in office, many of which included individuals convicted of crimes related to the January 6 insurrection.
Reportedly, the plan for the pardons is still at a nascent stage.
However, internal discussions within the administration have highlighted potential political risks, specifically how a high volume of pardons might influence voter sentiment ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
