Laura Loomer claims Ebola is spreading in the U.S.
'Fear Mongering': Laura Loomer Accused of Exploiting Ebola Hysteria to 'Spark Panic for Clicks'
President Donald Trump's administration announced on May 22 that non-citizens, including green card holders, who recently traveled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda or South Sudan would be barred from entering the United States.
The administration came up with this plan due to concerns over growing Ebola outbreak in central Africa, according to the The New York Times.
Health experts have stated that the outbreak does not currently pose a major threat to the U.S.
However, far-right activist Laura Loomer has been sharing alarming claims online.
Over the past few days, Loomer has repeatedly suggested that Ebola is already spreading across America and accused the government of hiding the truth.
'Massive Cover-up Happening Right Now'
Laura Loomer's X post about the spread of Ebola in the U.S.
Ever since the Trump administration announced its travel restrictions due to concerns over the Ebola outbreak in Central Africa, Loomer has made claims online that the disease has already spread in the United States.
In a series of X posts, she alleged that the government is hiding the truth from the public about a possible Ebola outbreak in the United States.
In an X post, Loomer wrote, “NIH researcher Vincent Munster was recently caught at the airport in Michigan smuggling vials of deadly African pathogens, raising serious questions about whether his reckless operations sparked the current EBOLA outbreak.”
Loomer added, “White Coat Waste, Senior VP Justin Goodman confirmed that Munster's rogue facility known as the Rocky Mountain Lab in Montana has a track record of severe containment failures, including a recent incident in which an Ebola-infected monkey bit a lab worker.”
In the post, she further accused federal health agencies of covering up an outbreak and called for Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to remove officials connected to Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Loomer continued sharing Ebola-related posts on X.
On Monday, May 25, she posted, "All of these Ebola stories are being published to slow roll the announcement that Ebola is already in the US… It’s a total cover-up, as I’ve been exposing these last few weeks with @WhiteCoatWaste. Soon it will be announced Ebola is in the US.”
Although she shifted focus for sometime while engaging in an online feud with Candace Owens, Loomer returned to posting about Ebola on May 27.
She wrote, "It will soon be announced that Ebola is already in the US… That’s why you’re seeing all of this Ebola hysteria. Massive coverup happening right now.”
Loomer once again warned, "The World Cup starts in 16 days. It’s going to further the spread of Ebola in our country... You’ll see. Then US officials will finally admit Ebola is here and they will blame it on the World Cup. Just cancel it. It’s not worth it. Just in time for the midterms."
She then added in another post, "I hope you’re all preparing for the Ebola outbreak that will soon be announced in the USA… Right before the midterms. Just on time.”
Netizens Call Out Laura Loomer
An X user reacts to Laura Loomer's Ebola outbreak claims.
Although Loomer has continued warning people about an alleged Ebola outbreak and government cover-up in the United States, netizens have strongly criticized her posts.
Several social media users accused her of spreading fear without evidence and trying to create panic online.
“Do you ever say anything positive? Good Lord, you seem to be at war with everything!" one user wrote.
Others expressed similar frustration, as an individual stated, "Ebola is not a disease that the population really needs to worry about. It’s too deadly to become a pandemic. It’s also not airborne. You’re trying to spark panic for clicks."
A few people even mocked Loomer for switching topics during her online feud with Owens, with one person commenting, "What happened to you fighting with Candace?! Guess now Ebola is trending."
Another added, "I don't understand why you are fear mongering. It's not airborne and kills too quickly to spread."
“It is pretty hard to get Ebola....you are creating unnecessary fear," one user wrote.
