As people battle job crises amid the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), OpenAI CEO Sam Altman made a rather chilling prediction.

Speaking in an interview with journalist Cleo Abram in August 2025, Altman warned that AI would be smarter than kids born after 2025.

Yet, he presented such a future, where AI overpowers human intelligence, as a promising opportunity.

Commenting on the job-shortage issue due to the advent of AI, Altman asserted that in the future, there will be “completely new, exciting” jobs.

Sam Altman shares his views on AI being smarter than the future generation.

Appearing on Abram’s Huge If True podcast, Altman talked about the future of artificial intelligence and its impact on the next generation.

Altman said that kids born in 2025 will grow up in a world where AI is an invisible, omnipresent collaborator, and therefore, they will see nothing unusual about it.

According to the OpenAI CEO, these children will grow up to see and believe that AI is permanently more intelligent than humans.

Therefore, he predicted that “a kid born today will never be smarter than AI, ever.”

He stated that these kids will only know a reality shaped by constant technological breakthroughs and rapid scientific progress.

“They will never know any other world. It will seem totally natural. It will seem unthinkable and stone age-like that we used to use computers and phones or any other kind of technology, that was not way smarter than we were,” Altman said.

“You know, we'll think like how bad those people of 2020s had it,” he added.

However, despite concerns about AI replacing humans and being smarter than any other generation hereafter, Altman frames this future as an opportunity.

He said that he believes children will be “more capable” because they'll have AI from the moment they're introduced to technology, which will help them land “super well-paid, super interesting” jobs.

Ro Khanna reacts to Sam Altman's comments.

Meanwhile, as Altman's remarks went viral, they sparked strong backlash online, with politicians and social media users criticizing his views.

Altman's comments about future generations never being smarter than AI recently triggered a heated debate across social media platforms.

Notably, Rep. Ro Khanna pushed back against Altman’s views.

Taking to his X account, Khanna wrote, “My bet is on the kid born today over AI if there is any hope for peace in the Middle East, or bridging our nation's divides, or tackling income inequality.”

He continued, “Not sure how Sam is defining what true intelligence is or what matters for human progress.”

Many netizens echoed similar concerns, as one user wrote, "They are framing humanity as inferior to AI so they can rewire our society and usher in their AI mass surveillance dystopia.”

The user added, “AI is not superior to humanity. It is fake. We are real. We must always put humanity first.”

Another user stated, "There's no such thing as AI. It's just a human database. There's zero intelligence involved. We need to stop using the term entirely.”

Some even accused tech leaders of promoting fear to reshape society.

One user commented, “Tech billionaires are selling. They are planting a mindset change. Grooming a new society of ret*rds to exploit. Don't fall for it.”

"There is no agreement on what intelligence even is. This is all financial grift manipulating our ignorance,” noted an individual.

Another user stated, “Intelligence without creativity isn't actually intelligence, it's just data retrieval,” adding, “AI isn't intelligent, it is just a pattern-seeking machine. Altman won't admit that because there is no fix for it.”
