Donald Trump’s Golf Skills Under Fire as Critics Question Score Accuracy: 'He Cheats'

President Donald Trump's love for golf is widely known. He frequently plays the sport on weekends at Mar-a-Lago and has often been seen playing with grand-daughter, Kai Trump.

His official golf handicap is now drawing attention after the president spent the weekend on the course.

The 79-year-old president spent time at one of his golf courses. Last year, reports indicated that he played golf on 13 of 48 days while in office.

In 2019, his golfing trips were reported to have cost taxpayers about $151 million, although earlier estimates suggested about $64 million. He has never let anything come between his love for the game.

However, according to The Irish Star, Donald Trump has been accused of 'cheating' on the golf course. In his 2019 book Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump, author Rick Reilly described the 79-year-old's alleged behavior on the golf course.

Trump often finds time to play multiple rounds of golf each month. Reports suggest his frequent play may contribute to improved performance.

President Trump has a documented golf handicap of 2.8 in the Golf Handicap Information Network (GHIN). To maintain a handicap record, players submit their own scores to the GHIN.

A handicap closer to zero is considered advantageous. Trump’s rating of 2.8 has been reported as the lowest handicap of any U.S. president, according to The Spun.

Some onlookers and golfers have expressed doubts about President Trump’s game. According to the report, he frequently plays on his own courses and has faced allegations of taking "gimmes" or improving his lie. Even with his remarkably low handicap, critics and golf analysts have questioned the accuracy of his submitted scores.

Additionally, videos circulating online appear to show Trump’s caddie moving his ball to a different spot, along with the president nudging his ball closer to the hole. These videos have added to doubts about his documented scores.

Accusations of cheating and circulating videos prompted social media users to question the president on X.

One user wrote, "Trump cheats in golf, as per many folks who have played with him. You really think an obese dinosaur has a 2.8?"

Meanwhile, another stressed, "Lol no the f--- he doesn't. Anyone that has ever played with him talks about how horrible he cheats. The gimmes he takes and more". A third user chimed in, "I'm a 16, and watching his swing, I know I could go out there, even up, same tees, hole out on every hole, and beat him".

According to Mediaite, author Rick Reilly has alleged that Trump attempts to win aggressively and has been accused of cheating during games.

“He cheats like a mafia accountant,” said Reilly. “He cheats crazy. He cheats whether you’re watching or not. He cheats whether you like it or not.”​
