Jill Biden has deeply moved the American public with her first public interview since her husband, former President Joe Biden, left the White House.

In the extended version of the interview, she recalled the turbulent period when fellow Democrat Kamala Harris ran for the presidential election and lost.

She talked about the intense effort she and her husband put together to get her elected, noting that on election night, they were taken aback when President Donald Trump handed Harris a crushing defeat.

The former first lady shared her sentiments from the day of that political setback and addressed how she felt about Harris’s public criticism of the Bidens.

Jill Biden speaks about Kamala Harris losing the 2024 elections.

On Sunday, May 31, Jill appeared as a guest on CBS Sunday Morning.

During the extended interview, the host asked her about the time when she went above and beyond to help Harris become the next president of the United States.

“Oh, all out," Biden answered. "I was out on the trail every — I mean, I think every single day I traveled the entire country.”

She stated that on election night, she was confident that the former vice president would win the presidential race

Jill recalled the excitement surrounding the campaign, the massive crowds, and how countless people had rallied behind the candidate.

“I truly felt she was going to win,” Jill said.

But upon seeing the results fall in favor of Trump, she was left astounded because she believed that Harris would have been a “good president.”

Jill added, “I went to bed. I mean, I just…I couldn't believe that she had lost. I couldn’t believe it.”

As Harris was widely projected to perform well in the 2024 presidential election, her loss had surprised many.

Reportedly, one of the major stumbling blocks for her campaign was public dissatisfaction with immigration policy.

Consequently, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) estimated there were roughly 11 million undocumented migrants living in the U.S. as of January 2022.

Though Harris raised this issue during her campaign, analysts say that by then, the political damage had been done, and she had lost the trust of key segments of American voters.

Jill Biden Addresses Kamala Harris’ Gripes

Since her bitter defeat against Trump, Harris reportedly developed a lingering resentment toward Joe and Jill Biden.

During a heated pre-election interview with Fox News, she had stated that she would not repeat the mistakes made by Biden during his term.

“I represent a new generation of leadership,” Harris had emphasized, pitching her administration as a brand-new era for America.

She later voiced sharper criticisms of Joe and Jill Biden in her book, 107 Days, pointing out that while Fox News frequently targeted everything from her laugh to her personal life -- even claiming she was a "DEI hire" -- the White House rarely defended her credentials.

Harris called out the past administration, writing, “The White House rarely pushed back with my actual résumé: two terms elected D.A., top cop in the second-largest department of justice in the United States, senator representing one in eight Americans.”

In her interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Jill brushed aside Harris’s public gripes.

She firmly stated that she and her husband were fully supportive of Harris in 2024 and remain proud of the fight they put up, despite the tough loss.
