'Uncomfortably Oedipal': Brooklyn Beckham Left Embarrassed After Being Called David Beckham During Wedding Vows

Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz were faced with a rather awkward moment involving David Beckham at their wedding, a new report claims.

Speculations about the complicated Beckham family dynamics have been doing the rounds ever since Brooklyn and Nicola tied the knot in a luxurious wedding in Palm Beach, Florida, in 2022.

Earlier this year, Brooklyn, who is a rising chef, took to Instagram Stories and made several bombshell claims about his strained relationship with his parents, accusing them of "trying endlessly to ruin my relationship" with Nicola, and prioritizing their public brand over his wellbeing.

Now, a new report by The Cut, cited by The Mirror, revealed fresh claims about an instance when Brooklyn and Nicola allegedly suffered much embarrassment at their A-list wedding. Here's what happened.

According to The Mirror, which cited the media outlet, Brooklyn and Nicola found themselves in an embarrassing situation following a few blunders involving the former's dad, David, at their wedding. A guest has claimed that Brooklyn was addressed by his father's name on more than one instance, including when he was exchanging vows with his to-be-wife.

The source said that the rabbi present at the ceremony addressed Brooklyn as "David" during the special moment. They added that the rabbi was himself shocked at his error, as he "stuttered and asked for forgiveness." He explained that he was a huge "soccer fan," but went on to make the mistake once again before the ceremony ended.

Another witness present at the celebrity wedding described the moment as "uncomfortably Oedipal," while other guests laughed it off.

On January 19, 2026, Brooklyn announced on social media that he was severing ties with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, saying that he has no intention of reconciliation.

Many fans had long speculated that the former model's relationship with actress and billionaire heiress Nicola is the cause of the Beckham family rift. Brooklyn confirmed the family feud with several lengthy posts on his Instagram Stories. "My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn't stopped," he wrote.

Brooklyn alleged that his mother, Victoria, who is a fashion designer and former Spice Girls member, had promised to make a wedding dress for Nicola, but cancelled "in the eleventh hour," forcing Nicola to find a new dress urgently.

He also said that Victoria had "hijacked" his wedding dance with Nicola, noting that the song was a "romantic love song" that he and Nicola were supposed to dance to, and had been planned weeks before. "She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life," he wrote.

Brooklyn further alleged that "the night before our wedding, members of my family told me that Nicola was 'not blood' and 'not family.'"

The 27-year-old model also alleged that his "family values public promotion and endorsements [coming] above all else." He claimed that before his wedding, his parents "repeatedly pressured" him to "[sign] away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children."

"I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed," Brooklyn wrote at the time.

He said that he is "standing up for myself the first time in my life," and has no desire to "reconcile" with his family.
