Blake Lively vs. Justin Baldoni: Everything About the Lawsuit Settlement Despite 'Hostile Work Environment' Allegations
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s nearly two-year legal dispute ended weeks before their scheduled court date. The stars who had worked together in the 2024 book adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s It Ends With Us showcased a story about domestic violence and a tough woman.
The drama between the two co-stars extended beyond the film when she accused Baldoni of sexual harassment. With just two weeks before their scheduled trial, the two decided to reach a settlement in the dispute.
‘Ms. Lively Deserved To Be Heard’
According to exclusive reports from TMZ, an anonymous source has confirmed that Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have agreed to a settlement. Both parties had released a statement, stating that the “end product” of the film, It Ends With Us, is a testament to the cast and crew members who have worked together to bring the project to life.
The statement read, “Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors -- and all survivors -- is a goal that we stand behind.” They acknowledged the concerns raised by the Gossip Girl starlet, remarking, “Ms. Lively deserved to be heard.”

They sincerely hope that this “brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace.” They hoped that the statement would lead to a “respectful” online environment. However, the Five Feet Apart director has not issued a direct apology to his co-star.
According to the Independent, Baldoni had previously claimed that Lively’s complaints about his inappropriate behavior were an effort to “seize creative control of the movie.” However, this settlement between both parties would avoid the trial on May 18, which would have damaged their public image.
Earlier this month, Lewis J. Liman, a U.S. District Judge, denied Blake Lively’s claims of sexual harassment against Justin Baldoni, as per NPR. The court documents mentioned numerous instances against him that she allegedly claimed led to a “hostile work environment.”
The instances included the Clouds director telling the crew that she had never watched p----------, after he confessed to her of having a p---------- addiction. Additionally, she cited unwanted physical contact during the filming of the scenes and even made comments about her appearance.
Journalist Claims the Settlement is a ‘HUGE Win’ for Justin Baldoni
A journalist explains Blake Lively's acting career is over.
Though the terms of the settlement remain undisclosed for now, Lady Colin Campbell, a British journalist, claimed it is a victory for Baldoni and his team. She wrote a detailed explanation on X, stating that the 42-year-old had a “HUGE win” by settling out of court.
She continued that the public statement by the involved parties would make the people disagree, as they “don't know how the courts work.” But people who have been involved in a costly litigation would know that the “settlements demand a veneer of civility which preserves the dignity of the loser.”
In this case, the Age of Adaline actress has not only the lawsuit and the $50 million in legal fees but also her reputation and acting career. Campbell added, “None of this comes as a surprise to me or to my Hollywood friend who kept me posted as to how she had destroyed her career.”
She remarked that she would have been surprised if Lively had decided to proceed to trial, shaming her and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for trying to destroy innocent lives. The journalist continued that the public statement had preserved the actress’ remaining dignity, but she, the loser, had paid a “high cost.”
Lady Colin Campbell also mentioned that even if Blake Lively had appeared in the trial and won any of the points presented, it would have had far-reaching effects. She concluded, “No one would ever have been able to make another movie without fear of being Livelyed.”
