Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni may have settled their high-profile legal dispute over It Ends With Us, but the the controversy continues to spark discussion. The dispute first erupted in December 2024 after tensions linked to the film’s production. Lively accused Baldoni of s—- harassment and allegedly orchestrating a smear campaign.

Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios denied the allegations and countersued Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, accusing them of defamation and extortion.

Earlier this week, both sides confirmed they had reached a private settlement outside court, but people close to the situation claim emotions are still running high behind the scenes. Actor Adam Mondschein, who appeared in the film, publicly defended Baldoni and suggested the director still wants to tell his version of events.

“I have very firm feelings about the actions that she took, and she hurt my friend and has been hurting my friend. I think he really wants to tell his story, and he deserves to be heard. To let sunlight in on this has been the thing that I feel her camp has been avoiding.” One insider connected to the production said Baldoni’s supporters believe the legal battle evolved before settlement talks began.

“Justin feels vindicated by how much of the case changed before settlement talks began. There is a sense among his supporters that Blake misjudged how aggressively this would be challenged.” Another source claimed the situation has affected Lively’s reputation in some entertainment circles.

“Blake is the utter loser in all this, as it became far more bruising than anyone expected,” the insider explained. “Blake went into this as one of the most powerful women in entertainment and came out of it facing questions she never anticipated. Plus, she is now viewed as toxic, and people will be very wary of working with her now. “Plus, if Justin wants to do a book or tell-all interview, it could totally destroy her.”

Mondschein also said Baldoni was relieved the legal dispute had ended but disappointed he would not get the opportunity to fully argue his case publicly in court. He added: “I can't imagine what it must be like to be inside of (Lively's) mind.” Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, also addressed the settlement.

“You know, I wouldn't say which side kind of came to the table first. I think there was an urgency to try to get it done as quickly as possible. I think that Justin and the other individuals felt pretty comfortable where they were at the time.” “Ten of the 13 claims were gone as a result of the summary judgment motion. Five individuals were out of the case.”

Freedman added Baldoni was “ecstatic” after the agreement was finalized. In a joint statement, both sides attempted to close the chapter. “The end product – the movie It Ends With Us – is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life.”

The statement added: “We remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments. It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online.”
