Billie Eilish and James Cameron Spark Global Intrigue With New 3D Concert Film
Just as Billie Eilish released one of the most acclaimed albums of her career with Hit Me Hard and Soft, fans already felt the project was headed for pop culture history books.
What nobody expected, though, was Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron stepping in to turn it into a full-blown cinematic experience with a 3D concert movie.
Moreover, the entire conversation regarding the same reportedly began with Cameron reaching out directly to Eilish’s mother before pitching the singer herself for the upcoming 3D concert movie.
Cameron sent an email to the pop singer's mother as his wife was friends with her, according to People.
Commenting on how things actually unfolded, the singer said, "He [Cameron] literally had the full idea already. He was like, ‘Why hasn't anybody filmed Billie's concert in 3D? Can we? Can I?”
The concert film's trailer showed Billie against a colorful backdrop while she joyfully interacted with her fans.
The movie has been filmed entirely in 3D to enhance the viewing experience and Eilish’s enchanting stage presence.
'Watching Him in Action Is Really Inspiring'
Talking about how Cameron made the whole thing happen, Eilish said, "Where did that come from, how did he think of it? I have no idea, but thank G*d he did. That's the story. We got on the phone and we made it happen.”
Sharing about how quickly she said yes to work with the Titanic director, the Birds of a Feather singer said, “Oh, my G*d, I didn't even hesitate. Are you kidding?”

Eilish went on to praise the director for his "work ethic" and stated, "Watching him in action is really inspiring because he has so much energy and is just ready to do whatever it takes to get the shot."
Cameron, too, didn't shy from praising Eillish and said, "What you have to realize with Billie is she knows exactly what she's doing as an artist. I shot it, but she created the show. So as my co-director, she'd already done so much of the work before I even showed up.”
All the Songs That Feature in 'Hit Me Hard And Soft: The Tour'
According to NME, the concert film's setlist includes songs from Eillish's entire career to date -- from Ocean Eyes to Birds of a Feather.
It is similar to her Hit Me Hard And Soft tour. In addition to songs from her three studio albums, the 3D film also features her partnership with Charli XCX on Guess, What Was I Made For? from Margot Robbie's Barbie soundtrack, and the independent single TV released in 2022.
