Amazon Floats Don Jr. as New Face of The Apprentice as Reboot Talks Begin Behind the Scenes
Amazon’s The Apprentice could be revived soon, and no, President Donald Trump would not be leading it this time. His son is being considered as a replacement host.
According to the Irish Star it will feature his son, Donald Trump Jr., as the host. In Trump's absence, his son will be taking over his father's previous role, firing most staff and employing just one for the famous reality show.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the President hosted The Apprentice and its offshoot, The Celebrity Apprentice, from 2004 until 2015. The show famously challenged two rival teams to promote different businesses, with one member from the losing team being ‘fired’ by Trump each week.
The project is currently in early stages
The report states, development is still in early phases, and "Amazon has not yet contacted the Trump family." An Amazon representative informed the publication that a possible reboot of The Apprentice is not currently in active development, and no host has been chosen yet. The representative said, “Since our acquisition of MGM, we have had preliminary internal discussions about what’s next for The Apprentice as a property".

The Journal also stressed, “Amazon’s deliberations about rebooting the TV show — and potentially casting Trump’s son in the starring role — is the latest example of how it has sought programming that would appeal to the president and his base of conservative supporters".
The report also added that the Trump family has benefited from the move, shedding light on how Amazon distributed Melania Trump's latest documentary Melania. Trump’s children Ivanka, Donald Jr., and Eric, featured in various episodes in supporting roles in the show. Additionally, Trump led 14 seasons of the popular series from 2004 to 2015 before starting his political career. In 2017, Arnold Schwarzenegger was the host for one season of the show.
Donald Trump. Jr reacts to the news
A source told People he first learned of the plan through the report. Many social media users shared their thoughts on the possible reboot of the show with Donald Trump Jr.
Donald Trump Jr. previously appeared on the original show many times as a boardroom advisor.
One person took to X and wrote, "Can't wait to not watch that". Another stressed, "Paint drying would have better ratings." A third user said, "Good grief! Do we have to dredge up the apprentice again?! It was bad enough the first time, we don't need Junior running it now!"
One more said, "This is bizarre. At least his dad was a (bad) businessman with various businesses. This guys credentials is… he’s his son?"
In December 2025, Donald Jr. shared the news of his engagement to model Bettina Anderson during a holiday party at the White House. He was earlier married to Vanessa Trump and shares five kids with her: Kai, Chloe, Donald III, Tristan, and Spencer. He and Vanessa separated in 2018, and Vanessa is now in a relationship with golf legend Tiger Woods.
