Nearly a decade ago, journalist Hilary Sheinbaum decided to embark on a Dry January (the act of giving up all forms of booze for the first month of the year). She succeeded and felt so great after 31 days or no alcohol, that she continued the tradition each and every year.

Since that fateful first Dry January (in 2017), she’s become the founder of GoingDry.co, a platform dedicated to hosting nonalcoholic events and helping curate nonalcoholic menus for bars, restaurants and hotels, including Four Seasons Jackson Hole and Le Meridian Salt Lake City. Sheinbaum is also the author of Going Dry: A Workbook and The Dry Challenge.

As she approaches her 10th Dry January (2026), Sheinbaum notes that it’s important to be kind to yourself when trying to give up alcohol. “Alcohol is everywhere!,” she says. “It’s hard to ignore that wine, beer and spirits have become a major part of birthdays, weddings, dating, mourning and even vacation.” (Thankfully the resort menus she influences can keep the trend of “dry tripping” going strong! And when she’s commuting to and from hotels, she recommends Chase Lounges at airports for their NA options.)

With that, here are her 3 Nonalcoholic Cocktail picks for Dry January 2026 and beyond—whether you’re doing a Dry or Dry-ish month, hosting an inclusive party or simply hanging out on a weekday and looking for a tasty drink.
