Another court case in the Trump family, and Melania Trump secured a legal victory. The case took a turn when author Michael Wolff's lawsuit was dismissed, handing the first lady a significant victory in a battle that had already sparked headlines, especially concerning the mix of billion-dollar threats and controversial claims tied to Jeffrey Epstein.

The legal dispute began after Wolff filed an anti-SLAPP lawsuit back in October 2025. The move came after Melania’s legal team reportedly warned they were prepared to file a $1 billion lawsuit over comments he made during podcasts and interviews.

Wolff argued the legal warning was less about correcting the record and more about silencing criticism through aggressive legal pressure. The controversy centered around comments involving Melania, Epstein's social circles and claims surrounding how she allegedly entered Donald Trump’s world years ago.

Throughout the fight, Wolff maintained he never accused Melania of participating in Epstein’s criminal conduct and argued that many of his statements fell under opinion and free speech protections. But then came the courtroom twist.

Late Friday, Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil dismissed the case ruling that left little room for interpretation. “Plaintiff asks for a declaration that, if the first lady sues him, he deserves to win. That is not how the federal courts work,” the judge wrote. The judge ruled that Wolff was effectively trying to fight a legal war before one had officially begun. Still, the courtroom criticism wasn't aimed at only one side. The judge also made it clear she wasn't impressed by the broader legal dispute.

“The court will not be conscripted to oversee an abusively presented spat,” she added. Wolff had argued that New York’s anti-SLAPP protections existed specifically to shield journalists and critics from legal actions intended to scare them into silence. He had also hoped to secure a declaration that could potentially strengthen his position if Melania later decided to file suit. Meanwhile, Melania’s side argued the warning letter itself did not legally qualify as an actual lawsuit.

After the ruling was issued, Melania’s team wasted no time firing back publicly. Her spokesperson, Nick Clemens, defended her actions and praised the outcome. “She is proud to continue standing up to, and fighting against, those who spread malicious and defamatory falsehoods,” he said. The legal battle also resurfaced questions surrounding Epstein-era social circles, something Melania previously addressed herself.

“Donald and I were invited to the same parties as Epstein from time to time, since overlapping in social circles is common in New York City and Palm Beach,” she said. “I have never been friends with Epstein.” For now, Melania appears to have scored a major courtroom victory, but in Trump's circle, one legal chapter ending usually means another headline is waiting around the corner.
